LINCOLN'S COMPLAINT.
"NOT GIVEN EQUAL STATUS."
BROKEN FAITH ALLEGED,
COLLEGE SHORT OF MONEY
(By Telegraph—Own Correspondent.)
CHRISTCHIL RCH, this day.
A Comjflaint that the Lincoln Agricultural CoTlege was not on an equal status with the Massey Agricultural College, and that Lincoln was in need of financial assistance, was received from the Lincoln College Board of Governors at yesterday's meeting of the committee of the Canterbury Agricultural and Pastoral Association.
The director of Lincoln College, Mr. R. E. Alexander, wrote saving that the board had found it necessary to appeal to the Government for further funds, and in going fully into tlie matter it had been found that although the college was supposed to have been given equal status with Massey College by Act of Parliament the appointments recently made by Maasev College gave the latter a much larger staff.
A statement showing the position of the board's finances was enclosed, but it was decided that it should not be published.
Mr. J. D. Hall said the position was most unfair. The Government was not fulfilling its promise to place the college on an equal status. The only excuse the Government had to offer was that it, had insufficient money. The association should get the Canterbury members of Purliament to take the matter up. The matter was referred to a sub-com-mitted. with power to act.
