SUVA, July 8.
The bowling carnival was opened l>y the Governor, Sir Eyre Hutson, yesterday afternoon. In the open rinks the results were:—Millen (New Zealand) defeated Moore (South Australia), Speer (Victoria) defeated Dobell (Suva), Perks (Suva) defeated Northam (New South Wales), Caughley (Suva) defeated Baxter (Victoria), Bennett (Victoria) defeated Johnson (Suva). Play will be resumed on Monday. The New Zealand rink mentioned is a rink of Epsom players, Messrs. Paget, Hill, Lamb and Millen.
There will be a dinner to the visitors on Monday, and on Tuesday the ladies will be entertained by Sir Maynard Hedstrom at an At Home. On Wednesday they will see the Beqa firewalkers. The Governor will give an At Home on July 16. On Friday next there will be a ball. The Mayor will give an At Home on July 17.
