Mr. B. C. Aston, F.1.C.. F.C.S., F.N.Z.1., has been appointed president of the' New Zealand Institute, in succession to hot. late Dr. Alan Thomson .
Mr. Aston has for many years been chief chemical adviser to' the Government Department of Agriculture, and he has held the position of secrctarv of the institute. He is an authority on plant life in New Zealand.
