HOWICK TOWN BOARD.
RESULT OF BY-ELECTION. MR. J. C. LITTEN RETURNED. Nursing a majority of 57 votes, John Cecil Litten was elected yesterday to fill an extraordinary vacancy on the Howick Town Board, caused by the retirement of one of the members of that body. Mr. Litten secured 117 votes, while Mr. Alfred Walter Butrum Webster, who opposed him, polled CO votes. There are 485 householders on the roll, and of this number only 178 voted. One informal vote was cast. Mr. Litten was previously a member of the board, but he failed to contest last election owing to a mistake as to the date of the closing of nominations.
