PRODUCTION OF FLAX.
INCREASING IN AUCKLAND. That the production of flax is definitely on the increase in Auckland province is clearly demonstrated in the latest figures obtainable from the Government grader They give the receipts for the period ending March 31 as follow:— *

Second grade .. 4 3 Passed for Export — 9 Totals .... 4 12 From twelve months to eighteen months ago a number of new companies were formed to produce flax in thin province and when they commence to harvest the product the returns are likely to show a still greater rate of increase.
