SOCIAL GATHERINGS.

A moat enjoyable tea party was given at the Tudor Tearooms on Saturday morning by Mrs. A. Hanna. Amongst those present were Mesdames Ferguson, A. Bullock, Ready, C. Dickenson, H. Gaudin, A. Jeavons (Dunedin), Worrall, T. Jeavons, Browne, Misses Marriner and Marr. Mrs. Hanna wore a frock of cocoa beige crepe de chine, embroidered in cinnamon and gold, with bat to tone.

The Pupuke Golf Club opened their season In perfect weather on Saturday afternoon with a large muster of members and friends. The president, Mr. F. H. Mingay, drove the first ball, and Canadian mixed foursomes were played over 18 holes, the best cards being handed in by Mr. F. H. Mingay and Mrs. Craven, ,70-—l2--58. The runners-up were Mr. E. Gritnwede and Mist Parker, 59. Mr. Hunter, a new player on a 24 handicap, drove the 15th hole in one. Afternoon tea was served in the clubhouse, being provided by the lady members. The links are In good order, and there ere a number of new members, which points to a successful season.

A most delightful tea was given by Mrs. Ewen Alison tit the Tudor Tearooms on Saturday morning in honour of Dr. Margaret Knight, Mrs. Ringsford, and Miss Thurl Donald, who are shortly leaving for England. Bowls of beautiful flowers werq artistically arranged on the table. The hostess wore a smart three-piece suit of black satin with rbse-tinted hat. Amongst the guests were Mrs. W. R. Wilson, Mrs, R. On Monday the members of the Hamilton branch of the Mothers' Union, after attending an admission service in the Cathedral, adjourned to the deanery garden. ■. At Cambridge on Tuesday, Mrs. S. Lewis entertained some of her friends at afternoon tea. The guests of honour were Mrs. Sinclair (Melbourne) and Miss Lewis (Rotorua), who are on a visit to Cambridge. Hutchinson at the Hamilton croquet lawns on Tuesday by the club members. Mrs. Hutchinson was presented with a handsome linen-worked afternoon tea cloth. Those present were:—Mesdames E. G. An enjoyable afternoon tea was given on Wednesday for Miss Hall (Devonport), at the home of Mrs. Souter, Cambridge. The rooms were decorated with late roses and zinnias. A farewell afternoon tea was given at the home of Mrs. W. Wait?, in honour of Mrs. French, who is leaving Hamilton to reside in Auckland. Various competitions kept the guests amused and interested. A dainty afternoon tea was served, during which the Rev. Paris presented the with a handsome vase. Mrs. French suitably replied. Those present were:—Mesdames J. R.
