RACING CYCLISTS HURT.
COLLISION AT CORNER. VIEW BLOCKED BY DUST. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Sunday. Two motor cyclists competing in a race at the motor cycle sports in New Brighton yesterday crashed through a railing at a corner and were injured. Tliev were Walter George Thomas, aged 20, and Eric I'yke, acred 20. The surface of the track had worn at t'ic turn, and Thomas, who was in front of Pykc. took a wide sweep out to avoid a soft patch, and failed to clear the railings. His machine skidded and crashed into the fence heavily. Pyke, whose view was completely blocked by dust and smoke, crashed into Thomas and struck his head heavily against the fence or Thomas' machine. Both men wore concussion helmets. Today Thomas had improved considerably, shock being his only trouVe, but Tyke was still unconscious, and his condition was serious.
