INTERNATIONAL RUGBY.
THREE EVENTFUL YEARS. PROSPECTS OF AIL BLACKS. TEAM MANAGER'S PLANS. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WELLINGTON, this day. A gathering of footballers at Eastbourne on Saturday made a presentation to Mr. W. Hornig, manager of the All Blacks, and the Wellington members of the team.
Mr. Hornig said he hoped the team would be a happy family. He thought it was a team of "stars," and tliat good results could confidently be expected of it. It was wise to recognise that the team was going to have over-much train travelling, something like 0000 miles. Two of the journeys would occupy over 30 hours, but he proposed to ask the Railway Department to put on a wagon during part of the journey, so that the men might skip and otherwise escape the boredom that must occur such long trips. 0 . Mr. Hornig said it was now certain that the Waratahs, who had just returned from France and England, would be visiting New Zealand during the season just opening. He had been authorised by the New Zealand union to confer with the New South Wales union when he reached Sydney, with a view to inducing the union to send its strongest possible team. ° Arrangements for the visit of a French team had been finalised, said Mr. Hornif, and that country would be sending a strong team in 1929. The International Board had given permission to the English Rugby Union to send a team to New Zealand in 1930, so that the coming three seasons should witness some of the most important games ever played in Rugby.
