UNEMPLOYMENT.
WORKERS' VIEWPOINT. NATIONAL COUNCIL PROPOSED. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. Unemployment, immigration and apprenticeship were dealt with by Mr. T. Bloodworth in a paper read on behalf of the employeea at the National Industrial Conference to-dav.
Mr. Blood worth suggested that a National Council of Industry should be established to deal with the various aspects of the industrial problems of the Dominion, preliminary to the formulation of a sound immigration policy.
In regard to apprenticeship, he suggested that provision should be made for young people receiving more complete training in technical schools or agricultural colleges when they were unable to get positions as apprentices in desired industries. The duty of the National Council of Industry should be, inter alia, to arrange for the registration of those engaged in industry, provide for future admissions to an industry and to gather statistics with a view to preventing unemployment or wastage of capital or labour.
