CAR HITS CYCLE.
SMASH ON TAHUNA ROAD. CYCLIST SERIOUSLY INJURED. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) MORRINSVILLE, this day. A serious accident occurred on Tahuna Road last evening, when a heavy car driven by Mr. S. J. Phillips, of Patetonga, and containing six passengers, collided with a motor cycle ridden by Courtney Brandt, aged 23 years, of Tahuna.
Mr. Brandt was apparently blinded by the lights of the car when he was struck and thrown 15ft, and the motor cycle was carried 17 yards in front of the car before it stopped in a drain.
Mr. Brandt received a compound fracture of his right leg, injuries to his right hand and face abrasions. He was removed to Waikato Hospital in a serious condition.
The front portion of the motor cycle was completely smashed. The right mudguard and axle of the car were torn off, and the chassis and wheel damaged, but its occupants were uninjured.
