'PURPOSELY SET ON FIRE'
HOUSE IN WELLINGTON.
CORONER'S DECISION.
EVIDENCE OF PREPARATIONS.
(By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. The inquest into the fire which broke out in an empty house in Tinakori Road was resumed to-day. Detective McClellan said he considered that the house had been prepared for fire.
The coroner stated that evidence showed that kerosene had - been discovered in open bottles in different parts of the house, that in a room upstairs the remains of a partly-burned candle had been discovered, that the windows had been covered with linoleum, evidently for the purpose of preventing the fire being prematurely discovered, and that the property had been bought for a sum between £900 and £1000 and apparently had not proved a paying proposition. Hig finding was that the premises were purposely set on fire by some person or persons.
