ELECTROCUTED.
MAN COLLAPSES ON POLE.
(Bjr Telegraph—Own Correspondent.) CHRISTCHURCH, Wednesday.
An inquest concerning the death of Thomas Kelly, single, aged 33, who collapsed suddenly while working on an electric light pole in Burwood on March 13, was held to-day. William H. Butcher, foreman, said , Kelly was shortening a line when he heard him call out. Asked if he were all right, Kelly replied that he was. Just after that he collapsed and fell across the cross-bar of tbe pole. Witness went Up the ladder and lowered him to the ground by means of a rope. Dr. J. P. Whetter said that in tbe absence of any other indication of sudden death, witness concluded that Kelly had met his death through an electric shock.
Evidence was given that it wouldhave been possible for deceased to receive a shock of 440 volts.
The coroner returned a verdict that Kelly was accidentally electrocuted.
