GOLF.
AUCKLAND LADIES' CLUB. The Auckland Ladies' Golf- dub will open its season at Middlemore next Tuesday with a Canadian foursomes competition. Post entries' in pairs will be received, players to arrange their own opponents. MATAMATA CLUB. The annual meeting of the Matamata Golf Club wag held this week, Mr W. T. Walker presiding. After providing for big works on the links, the club showed a credit of £28 5/3 on the season. One of the largest Items of expenditure waa £60 for rent of the links. Ten new members were elected. Officers were appointed as follow: President, Mr. W. T. Walker; vice-presi-dents, Messrs. J. T. LanrenSon and W. S. Wilson; secretary and treasurer. Mr. H. Hitchcock ; club captain, Mr. O. Fitzgerald ; committee. Messrs. S. Gunti, A. A. Thompson, E. T. Stanley, S. Stockdale, E. C. Banks and J. Carruthers. It was decided to open A tbe season on April 14. A long discussion took place regarding reducing the links from an eighteen to a nine-hole course, but it was decided to adhere to the former for a month to see if the fairways could be materially improved. '
