LAWN TENNIS.
N.Z. 'VARSITY TOURNAMENT.
The New Zealand University tournament will be played at Wellington during Easter.
The "Dominion" says: Auckland is the present holder of the Lawn Tennis Cup, and a strong tem is available for its defence. A. C. Stedman will be Auckland's strongest competitor for the singles title. W. R. Robinson, the Canterbury player, may compete also. Chisholm, the present holder of the singles title, will defend his title. Ferkjns is Wellington University's strongest player. In the ladies' events the Auckland players should shcfcv up prominently. The Misses Miller have strengthened their singles play considerably this season. Miss Scott, of Canterbury, who took part in her first University tournament last year, and played brilliant tennis in the combined event, which she won, partnered by J. Hunter, should again go far.
Present holders of the different titles are:—Men's singles: R. Chisholm, Otago. Men's doubles: A. M. Nicholson and N. Hubble, Auckland. Ladies' singles: Miss D. Miller, Auckland. Ladies' doubles: Misses Miller and Mueller, Auckland. Combined doubles: J. Hunter and Miss Scott, Canterbury.
