STABLES DESTROYED.
OTHER PREMISES DAMAGED.
(By Telegraph—Own Correspondent.) TATFTAPE, this day. The Carbine Stables at Hunterville were destroyed by fire yesterday morning, with the exception of the ladies' dressing room. Extensive damage was done to the ail joining buildings and offices of the Now Zealand Farmers' Co-operative Distributing Company, and Mr. J. Hodge. Three motor cars, only one of which was insured, were destroyed in the fire, also a motor, cycle. The flames had a strong hold before the fire brigade arrived. The brigade worked hard, and it was only with a great effort that they saved the adjoining buildings. The origin or the fire is not known. A message from Marton says that the flames lit the country for miles around, mid, despite the early hour, a large crowd of spectators gathered. The fire raged for several hours, and the damage i< estimated at £3000. The stables were uv. Ned by Mr. Clarke.
