PIPING AND DANCING.
DOMINION CHAMPIONSHIPS. J. McKENZIE WINS SHIELD. (By Telegraph.—Pre6s Association.) MARTON, Monday. At the Turaldna Caledonian sports chief interest centred in the two Dominion championship contests.
The championship for marches was won by J. McKenzie (Palmerston North), who, by winning the event, became the holder of the R. J. Lawrie Challenge Shield, only recently received from the donors in Scotland, and competed for on Saturday for the first time.
In dancing the championship of New Zealand in the Sean Triubliais (girls) 12 to 16, event, was won by Gladys Smytlie. whose performance was meritorious cobugh to gain 98 marks out of a possible 100. Since Christmas she has won four New Zealand championships, a South Auckland championship, three cups and ten gold medals.
