KAWHIA COTTAGE HOSPITAL.
MEMORIAL VERANDAH OfENED
(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.)
KAWHIA, Monday.
A "sunshine verandah" has been erected at the Kawhia Cottage Hospital as a memorial to the late Mr. Walter Morgan and Mr. W. J. Shaw, to whose work the establishment of the hospital was largely due.
The memorial was officially opened yesterday afternoon. Among those present were: Messrs. Campbell Johnstone (chairman), G. S. Clark, F. J. Potts, and Mrs. Sims, of the Waikato Hospital Board; Dr. Gower (medical superintendent) and Matron Keddie, of the Waikato Hospital; Mr. N. A. Mason (chairman of the Medical Association), and Mr. A. N. Babbage (chairman of the Kawhia County Council).
In formally opening the verandah, Mr. Campbell Johnstone congratulated the Kawhia residents on the possession of such a fine little hospital, which he said reflected the greatest credit to Sister Reidy. Although it appeared to be little used at present, it was always an insurance against emergency.
Dr. Gower paid a tribute to the manner in which the hospital and its grounds were being maintained, and the personal assistance the staff always received from Kawhia people.
