GERMANS ON PARADE.
Hindenburg Witnesses Spirit Of Old Army. 80,000 MAKOH , PAST. (By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright.) (Received 2 p.m.) BERLIN, October 3. President Hindenburg, in full Field-Marshal's uniform, reviewed 80,000 ex-soldiers from all parts of the country, carrying 3000 |var-time standards.
A British correspondent's comment is that it is only necessary to witness the parade to realise that the old spirit of which Hindenburg 6pokc on his birthday is still alive.
The culmination of the review was a march past of uniformed' groups, illustrating the development of the German Army from Teutonic crusading orders up to Imperial grenadiers, thfe storm troops in the Great War.
Such tremendous enthusiasm was shown when the latter groups passed that they had to re-march, saluting the Field-Marshal's box. Included were the honours of the company, beaded by 45 victorious colours of the old army, one being a war-worn naval flag. . The Monarchist Press states: "His Majesty, the Kaiser, has expressed his congratulations."
