INCREASED ALLOWANCE.
WIDOW'S SUCCESSFUL CLAIM. Under the Family Protection Act, Mrs. Elizabeth Wallace (Mr. McVeagh) made application in the Supreme Court to-day for an increased allowance under the will of her late husband, William Wallace, farmer, of Rotorua. Deceased, who died in January last, left estate valued at £6183. Mr. E. H. Northcroft appeared for the Public Trustee and all the beneficiaries except applicant. By his will deceased authorised- the trustees to pay out of the income -of the residuary estate a sum not exceeding £4 a week for the maintenance of herself and any children living with her, and the upkeep of any residence provided for her. Applicant claimed that this was inadequate.
His Honor said it was eminently a case for increased allowance, and £G a week would be little enough. He made an order for the widow to receive the full income of the estate until a further order was made, payment of legacies to be postponed in the meantime.
