THE CHARITY CUP.
In the Charity Cup match, Ponsonby, after being three points down throughout the first half, ran out winners againsf Grammar Old Boys by the comfortable margin of eight points. Ponsonby were without Mc&fanus, Berridge, Book and McWilliams, but played Johnston and Solomon, of North Shore, and Jeffreys, of Marists. The game, although not over brimming with incident, was sufficiently interesting to keep the crowd ,on the stand until the end. - Outlasting their opponents, the Ponies clapped on eleven points in the second-half, and also smashed all the attacks launched by the old boys. Lucas, Woods, and Cammick gave the Grammar backs a lot of trouble, while Solomon, Bighton and Palmer got through a- heap of work in the forward play, Johnston, at fullback, was.fairly safe, and, lost no time in racing up. to gitre the ball to his backs. Weir played' behind'the Grammar scrum and gave Badeley as -many opportunities as possible, while Batty, who led the Granfmar fifteen on to the field, played his usual good game.
