POLLARD CUP FINAL.
For the first time in Auckland Rugby, a senior B grade team, Manukau, lias won the Pollard Cup. Manukau the holder* of. the trophy when they beat Technical Old Boys on Saturday, by 12 points to 6.. From end to end this match provided the followers on the side-line with thrills. Throughout it was fought at a surprisingly fast pace. Quite the outstanding feature of tlie play by both sides was the sound defence. Time after time one team or the other would rush for the line only to be met by solid tackling. Of the winners, Ttata was probably the most useful back. He showed a great turn of pace in attack and was always where, he was wanted, in defence. Manukau'* mainstay in thgir . van was their lock, "Baby" Kahu—a solid b?.by of more than 15 stone. Besides bfing a most useful man in a sortie, he very hard to pass when his team took the defensive. All the Technical' backs, played well. Hogg's place kicking was accurate, but many* of his attempts were unlucky. McMiken, until he was hurt, worked hard in the pack.
