300 PER MINUTE.

WIRELESSING WORDS New Invention Of Fac-simile Transmission. BRITISH RESEARCH TRIUMPHS. (By Cable — Tross Association.—Copjrl£h'.> LONDON-, August 7. Thfi "Daily Express" says the world is on the eve of a new wireless triumph through the perfection of a high-speed super-beam, by means of which photography will displace the dot and dash system. This, it is claimed, will revolutionise wireless communication. It is anticipated that lac-simile messages will be transmitted over the ocean at a speed of 300 words a minute. Instead of the printed word* of an ordinary message the actual handwriting of the sender will be reproduced exactly as it is handed in at London. Photographs of messages will h<? flashed to America at ten times the present speed, the paper asserts. It says the greatest secrecy is being maintained about this epoch-making discovery, which it describes as the crowning triumph of patient research by Britieh radio exj»erts in a secret laboratory at the Marconi station at Chelmsford. Before the new system i«i put into operation world patents are to be taken out. Marconi's tests carried out with short waves from Chelnisford have l»een successful, and arrangements have been made to extend the system. "ELECTRIC EYE." VISIBLE BROADCAST. LOXDOX, August 7. The invention of the young Hungarian engineers, Denes von Mehaly. by which he claims that everything broadcast by wireless cau be rendered visible on a screen, will shortly be put on the London market. The apparatus will cost £20. Outwardly it has the appearance of a large box-camera. In one end there is an opaque glass 6 I measurin S ?2m by 14in, on which the moving pictures appear. This is connected with the receiving sets bv six terminals. The discovery of certain new properties of selenium made it possible to use it in the photo-electric cell or "electric eye." This outwardly has the appearance of a black cylinder Gin long. The 'electric eye" sees consecutive fragments of the scene at the transmission end, and sends out corresponding wireless waves, which are picked up through a corresponding eye.

The new invention can also be need in conjunction with ordinary telephon-ing-—(A. and N.Z. and Svdnev 'Sun. "J
