In Australasian Cross-Country Championship. BACE WON BY HYDE. SYDNEY. August 7. The Auckland long-distance runner, J. W. Savidan. was a competitor in, tb« cross-country championship race vest«rday, and wae defeated for first place by Hyde, the Victorian and Australian champion.
The track wa«= heavy. The race resolved itself into a duel between Hyde and Savidan, with Henschke close at hand.
For the first two mile? Savidan led the field, with Hyde following him. With throe miles to pn Hyde was in command, and uTin vith plenty to (spare.
