July 30~Christchurch Hunt Wfyen Comical was given a further schooling task over the steeplechase country at Ellerslie yesterday morning, the big chestnut negotiated the first few fences far better than was the ease on Monday last. However, he fell at the hurdle near the foot of the hill, and put the finish on what promised to be a jileaßing effort. Comical will require Elenty of further schooling before he ecomee a proficient jumper of big country

Omahu fenced with all his old brilliancy over a round of the steeplechase course yesterday. The Maniapoto gelding is a very fit horse, and gained a lot of friends in his final effort over the big jumps. He is now well down in the weights and promises to be a hard horse to dispose in his jumping engagements. The exhibition given by Peter Maxwell over the big fences yesterdav morning was a treat to watch, for the Marble Arch gelding jumped perfectly, and was running on strongiy at the tini>h. However, he may find the task of journeying over the hill at Ellerslie three times a very tough proposition, and one that will test him very severely. Waioeka Jack gave a decidedly promising display of fencing over the steeplechase country yesterday morning, considering that it was his first attempt over the Ellerslie steeplechase course. He jumped rather big at tiiiios. and nlso appeared to run down the first fence of the double, but he is sure to improve with a bit more experience, and should make a uwful 'chaser. ,
