WELLINGTON CITY PROJECT.
LARGE LOAXS TO BE SOUGHT.
•By Telegraph.— Own Correspondent.) WELLINGTON', this day. By dividing its proposed loan of £730.000 into two parts, the Wellington City Council hopes to be able to submit the first part for street paving aod footpaths, to the ratepayer* without undue delay, and in time, in the event of the loan being sanctioned. &>r the works to be started next season. The schedule for the first portion will involve £264,000. The other part of the proposed loan is needed for reserves, -water, drainage, library, etc., and the Mayor states that great delay will be involved in the preparation of plans and specifications. It has been deemed advisable to retain as many as possible of the present bitumen workers during the winter. They will bo employed on footpaths, repairs and other work.
