CRUSHED BY COAL BIN.
WELL-KNOWN ATHLETE HURT.
THREE BROKEN RIBS. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) TAIHAPE, this day. C. H. ("Beit") Derbridge, a well-known professional runner, met with a painful and unusual accident early on Monday morning. While he was unloading coal from a railway truck, the coal tub, which was not properly locked, swung and fell on him. Medical aid was summoned, and he was removed to the Taihape Hospital, where it was found he had three broken ribs and a strained back. It will be some time before he recovers from the accident, and it is hoped that it will not affect his running. In his last two starts at Easter he won the 440 yds ltandicap and the 120 yds Sheffield at Papakura. He is also a great asset to representative football in the district.
