GUNS BEING LANDED. State of Emergency in Hankow Concession. CHIANG'S NORTHWARD DRIVE. <By Cable.-—Press Association.—Copyright.) (Received 12 noon.) SHANGHAI, May 15. There is noticeable activity among Japanese regarding the Yangtse situation. A state of emergency has been declared in the Japanese concession of Hankow. Marines have landed field guns and machine-guns and placed them on the boundaries. Searchlights from warships are playing in all directions every night. Latest reports state that Chiang Kaishek has launched an offensive against the Xorth and has crossed from Nanking towards Pukow with a large force to attack the Shantungese.
