PAPAKURA TOWN BOARD.

PAPAKCRA, Ifonjay. The regular meeting of the Papakam Town Board was held last evening, tbt chairman (Mr. Jas. McCall) occupying tba chair. Traffic Inspector.—The Papatoetoe Town Board wrote stating that at tie last meeting of delegates it wa« considered inadvisable just at present to include' any extra, area in the inspector's district, but when things are working smoothly will reconsider including their district, if not suited with an inspector by then. Detours.—The Highways Board's representative, No. 2 District, wrote in answer to the board's letter re the aliocatioa at the £18 by the Highways Board lor maintenance of detours. Greriile Walker), advised that the whole of the concrete provided for in the contract has now ben laid, and the work of metalling acd rolling side shoulders through the business area has made good progress. Supplies pf metal for finishing oir the 4ft siwualer* are now being received. Fire Demonstration.—A letter was re» ceived from the Papakura Citizens' Committee relating to tne tire brigade denion* stration which was to be held on June 3. The committee had received perntiasioa from the Town Board to have the vatet laid on and all arrangements were completed when they received a communicate* from the tire brigade stating that the brigade did hot think it advisable to bold a demonstration on June 3 and that tkef did not see their way clear'to take psrl in it, but thought that a smuie concert would be more acceptable. Ambulance Arrangement.—ln reply te tie Papakura Town Board's letter inquiring 2 an ambulance could be stationed at Papakura, the Hospital Board wrote to lut night's meeting that, in view 01 the eariy completion "of a concrete roadway between Auckland and Papakur.l, it was not considered that the expense involved in stationing an ambulance at Papakuia was warranted The board's big antelances have not been available for trips o\er very bad roads, but recently arrange* ments were completed with the St. JoM Ambulance Association to ensure that long distance calls would be attended to frps* the association's headquarters in Katlanl Street.
