REPORTS FROM THE WAIKATO, LARGE "BAGS" OF PUKEKO. ,j (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent) j HAMILTON", this day. Now that sportsmen have had time t* look round they are able to furnish information regarding the different gam* encountered. Very few were able to g» out at the opening of the soason, but many guns were in operation during the W.-.U i-.d. Ducks are reported to be plentiful, bus quail are not so numerous as last season and only small bags have been caugbt» There are a few pheasants about ani, several small bags have been secured. The open season for pukeko is appree* ated by sportsmen, and one party of foot! bagged 47 of these birds in the week* end.
