OBITUARY.
MR. W. C. GATENBT.
Mr. William Charles Gatenby, formerh well known in business circles in Aa»fr. land died recently in New Plymouth Hospital, aged 85 years. Born in Yorkshire, Mr. Gatenby was apprenticed to the drapery trade, and he later established himself in business in Woodhoow Lane, in St. Ann Street, and in Kev Ungate in the City of Leeds. fat health reasons the late Mr. Gatenby emigrated with his wife and five young boys, and in 1879, he reached New jg the good ship MaravaL Settling ia Auckland the deceased carried* g> business for many years as a draper at Mt. Eden and later at Newmarket, bj| retired many years ago and nas smet lived in Taranaki. His wife whose "■■%■ name was Miss Anne Mellor of Castb Hill, Yorkshire, predeceased him about 20 years ago. He is survivedh by hie in sons, twenty-four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
