Mr. W. D. Hunt returned to Wellington by train last evening. Mr. H. T. Merritt leaves for Europe next week. Mr. A. M. Bryden has been re-elected Deputy-Mayor of Mount Eden. Dr. Marshall Philip, of Ceylon, is at the Hotel Cargen. Mr. Leo Dwan, of Wellington, who has been on a business trip to Sydney, returned by the Aorangi yesterday. Mr. J. Gearey, postmaster at Bemuera, will leave by the Marama on Friday on an extended tour of Australia. Mr. Justice Stringer will leave for the South on Tuesday on business connected with the War Pensions Appeal Board. Mr. J. D. Simpson returned from Wellington yesterday and is the Grand Hotel. Colonel L. J. Morshead, of Sydney, is at the Hotel Cargen. He is accompanied by Mrs. Morshead. Sir Charles Skerrett, Chief Justice, will arrive in Auckland next week to relieve Mr. Justice Stringer at Supreme Court sittings. Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Hutchison, who have beep touring in the East for six months, te turned by the Aorangi yesterday. Mr. W. Andrews, Sydney manager for the Orient Shipping Company, Ltd., arrived yesterday by the Aorangi on a business visit to New Zealand. Mr. M. Stewart and Mr. J. A. C. Allum, delegates to the Railway Advisory Board Conference, left for Wellington by last night's express. Mr. Donald Grant (Ohinepanea), Mr. C. Neilson (Paeroa), Mr. C. G. Alcorn (Putaruru) are at the Commercial Hotel. Mr. Beaumont Smith, managing director for J. C. Williamson's Films Ltd., arrived by the Aorangi from Sydney yesterday. Mr. G. J. Little, private secretary to the Governor-General, Sir Charles Fergusson, has been on a visit to Australia. He returned by the Aorangi yesterday, and left for the South by train last evening. Mr. C. Todd, Dominion President of the New Zealand Alliance, has arrived in Auckland to attend the annual convention of the Auckland area of the Alliance on May 21.
