ACCIDENT IN QUARRY.
SUDDEN SLIP OF METAL.
MAN'S LEG BROKEN.
(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.)
WHANGAREI, Monday.
A sudden slip of metal in a quarry cawed Mr. Alex Russell, of Waipu, to have one of his legs broken on Saturday. Mr. Russell and his brother were quarrying metal from a cliff in the Waipu Gorge. His brother noticed the slip and gave the alarm, but Mr. Russell was unable to escape and was jammed against a lorry, which was backed into the face in readiness for loading.
Mr. Russell had to remain in the gorge for several hours while his brother made the journey to the nearest homestead at the entrance to the gorge to make provision for his removal.
The injured man is in the Wliangarei Hospital.
