m LABOUR COUNCIL'S HELP. PREFERENCE IN CONTRACTS. {By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) CHRISTOHDRCH, Monday. The Labour members of the City Council, who are in a majority, have decided to support New Zealand industry, and at the same time help to relieve unemployment by giving preference to New Zealand goods. This decision was announced to-night, when the tender of the Spiral Pipe Company. Wanganui, was accepted for the supply of mains for the reticulation of suburban areas, although its tender of £25.102 was £1300 above the lowest tender received.
