LOST ON THE ICE.
Aviator's Fruitless Search for; Wilkins. OMINOUS SILENCE. NEW YORK, April 17. The last radio message received from Captain G. H. Wilkins was* on April 1. He and his companion, Lieutenant Eilesen, started on their Arctic flight on March 29, and were forced to descend on the ice owing to engine trouble. An aviator, who was sent out in search by the rest of the expedition, returned without sighting the missing men. Captain Wilkins had predicted that if he should get lost he could live on the countrv for months.
