PUBLICITY OFFICER.
PROPOSED CIVIC APPOINTMENT. SALARY OF £500 A YEAR. The Auckland City Council decided on Thursday evening to appoint a publicity officer,- at a salary of £500 a year. The duties of the new office will necessitate familiarity with all policy questions approved and decided by the council, and ability to explain them to the public, when directed, preparation for the publication of the "Municipal Record," preparation.of advertisements relating to City Council activities, and the organisation of a municipal reference library. The chosen officer will be attached to the town clerk's staff, and journalistic qualifications and a knowledge of municipal affairs will be a recommendation for the appointment.
One condition of the appointment is: "Should the necessity arise, cheerfully work longer hours than the usual (8.30 a.m. to 4.30 p.m.) without additional remuneration."
The specifications state that the office will be closed on public holidays.
