NAPIER EXPRESS DERAILED.
CARRIAGE AXLE BROKEN. PASSENGERS ESCAPE INJURY. Advice lias been received by tlie Railway Department in Auckland that the Wellington-Napier express was derailed at the sixty-mile peg, near Marakeke, on the Xapier side of Takapau. The mishap was caused by an axle breaking on the leading bogie of a carriage. No one was hurt. A breakdown repair train was dispatched from \Yood\ille, and a train from Napier. Passengers from the derailed car and those behind it were transferred to the Napier train and conveyed to their destination As far as could be ascertained locally, no damage was caused to the track.
