2000 NEW DWELLINGS.

Two thousand new houses were built in Auckland and the suburbs during the last financial year, indicating the progress of the residential districts on both sides of the harbour. In Auckland city and the fifteen local districts —Mount Albert, One Tree Hill, Mount Roskill. Taka]iuna. Mount Eden, Onehunga. Avondale, Tamaki. Devon port, New L\nn, Ellcrslic. Birkenhead, Newmarket". Xorthcote and Mount Wellingr,jn—the total amount in building permits for the twelve months which ended on March :il was £:{.IS.">.SOO. Of this sum the value of the new houses was - A;1.5J5,247.
