UNEMPLOYED RELIEF.
WELLINGTON'S KXPENDITURE. . WELLINGTON, this day. Providing work for unemployed during the past financial year cost'the Wellington Hospital Board £3589. At a special meeting this week the chairman stated that Wellington as a centre had suffered least of all the centres from unemployment, but nevertheless it had been present. The board's proportion of the work carried out hv the Wellington Corporation amounted to £657, but that amount was recoverable' under a clause of the Act passed last year. Work had been found for a number of men on the outdoor staff, entailing the expenditure of £1286. The Social Welfare Departments extra cost was £1040. '
