OBITUARY.
DR. CHARLES FREDERICK STRANGE. News has been received o? th 6 death in England of Dr. Charles Frederick Strange, M.R.C.S., L.R.C.P., London, F.R.G.S., formerly of Auckland. He was educated in Auckland, afterwards joining the firm of Sargood, Son and Ewen. At the age of 21 he left Auckland (as one of a band of seven young men) for mission work in India. After three years work in India, he went to England and there studied and gained his diploma of medicine and surgery.
Dr. Strange visited, Auckland in 1910, sailing to Australia, was married there and with his wife left for China to take up work at the C.M.S. Hospital at Hangchow. After five years, they left for England on furlough.
The Great War was in progress. Dr. Strange felt it was his duty to serve his country, so joined the R.A.M.C. He served in France and England for four years, obtaining his captaincy. Whilst in China, he was awarded the Medalle de Epidemic for his work during the influenza epidemic there.
After his war service, he went back to his work in China, and in 1923 he and his family returned to, and settled, in England. Dr. Strange leaves a widow and five children in England to mourn their loss.
