DANGEROUS PRACTICE.
RACING AFTER FIRE-ENGINE. EXAMPLE IX CHRISTCHURCH. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, this day. W hen Mr. Hugo, Inspector of Fire Brigades, was iu Victoria Square on the evening of Sunday, March 20, the motor fire engine passed him in response to an alarm from St. Albans. More than forty motor cars, motor cycles and bicycles were racing after the engine, even ranging alongside it. "To put it. mildly, like a lot of madmen." he stated in a letter to the Fire Board last night. "The whole proceeding appeared to be most dangerous," he added, "and the police should be asked to stop similar occurrences."
The board will bring the matter to the attention of tlyj police.
