FLOODING AGAIN.
WAIMAKARIRI RIVER. LITTLE DAMAGE DONE. (By Telecmrih. —Own Correspondi-nt-l CirRISTCHURCH, this day. Tbc North Road was blocked to traffic for about an hour early yesterday moraine. Heavy rain in the hills caused the Wainiakariri River to rise about sft between 3 and 4 a.m., and the swollen waters broke over the bank. So far as is known, no serious damage was done. During the day the North Road was passable for motor cars, but only with careful driving. By 2.30 p.m. the river was only 2ft above normal, and was then subsiding at the rate of 3in per hour. At yesterday's meeting the River Trust Board authorised repairs costing £1000.
