j PROTEST AGAINST SALUTING. WELCOME TO ROYALTY. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) CHRISTCHtT.CH, this day. "I want to know where you stand. Are vou still Socialists, or have you repudiated Socialism i" asked a man at a meeting last night in conncction with .in- i.ii.*iur party's municipal election campaign. The chairman, .Mr. K. J. Howard, M-l\, said he did not think thai there was all\ need to answer the question. Not to be turned aside from his purpose, the questioner again rose to his feet, stating that he had heard -several of the Labour candidates protesting against school children being aiked to saiute the flag, and those same men had "crawled to Royalty. Without calling on the Mayor to reply, Air. Howard said that he thought he couid speak for all the candidates standing in the name of Labour. Not one of tliem had by one fraction changed his colours.
