Mr. A. E. Manning, of Hamilton, has returned after a visit to Australia. C ' E ' A " Coldicutt ' of Auckland, left by the Niagara yesterday. He intends to spend a holiday abroad. Mr. and Mrs. R. Reid, of Palmerston North, and Mr. and Mrs. A. Hunllev, of Christchurch, are at the Hotel Cargen. Mr. E. A. Ransom, M.P. for Pahiatua, and Junior Whip (Nationalist party), arrived in Auckland this morning, and is at the Commercial Hotel. Mr. L. Marchand was to-day admitted as a barrister of the Supreme Court by Mr. Justice Stringer, on the motion of Mr. L. N. Jacka. Sir Amos and Lady Nelson, who have been touring the Dominion, were passengers by the Niagara for Vancouver yesterday. Mr. Beaumont Smith, managing director of J. C. Williamson Films, Ltd.. and Mrs. Smith, left Wellington for Sydney yesterday. Dr. F. E. Webster, who lias been house surgeon at the Auckland Hospital for two years, left yesterday by the Niagara to take up the position of Government health officer in Fiji. Included among the guests at the Commercial Hotel are Mr. and Mrs. Gillivrav (Sydney), Mr. and Mrs. G. Townsend, Mr. A. Sorlev (Hamilton), Mr. F. C. Oldersliaw (Waitara). Among those at the Grand Hotel are Mr. and Mrs. R. W. Orton (Whangarei), Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Derry (Perth, Western Australia), Mr. E. S. McLean (Sydney), and Mr. D. Hunt (Wellington). Mr. R. A. Abbott, representative of the Institute of Architects,' and Mr. C. E. Clinkard, representing the Auckland Retail Drapers' and Clothiers' Association, were elected members of the council of the Auckland Chamber of Commerce yesterday. Mr. M. H. Wynyard was to-day re-elected unopposed, as a member of the Auckland Harbour Board for the combined district of Newmarket, Oneliunga, One Tree Hill, Panmurc, Mt. Wellington, Tamaki and Ellerslie. Mr. T. B. Clay was returned unopposed for tho Mt. Eden and Mt. Albert district. Guests at the Central Hotel include: Mr. H. A. Goudie (Rotorua), Mr. E. Harding (Dargaville), Mr. ancl Mrs. .T.
