King Meets Some Quaint Exhibits. A PREMIER PIPE. LONDON, February 27. "Br Jove, where is Mr. Baldwin?" asked His Majesty when he noticed a huge pile of tobacco pipes in one stall at the British Industries Fair. "Here's a beauty," added the King when he saw an immense briar with a stem two feet long, and a bowl capable of holding an ounce of tobacco. "Why not send it to Mr. Baldwin?" remarked Sir Philip Cuncliffe Lister, President of the Board of Trade, who explained that an aluminium t )ipe had been presented to Mr. Baldwin at Birmingham, but the Prime Minister, he said, had hitherto been afraid to smoke it. His Majesty nest noticed an innocent- ! looking exhibit intended for America. |outwardly it looked like two handI somely-bound volumes bearing titles 1 "The Canterbury Tales" and* "The I Assembly of Souls." I Someone discovered that the top opened, revealing a whisky bottle and syphon.
