A NEW CRIME.
"Literary High Treason" in Germany. EXTRAORDINARY JUSTICE. (Received 1 p.m.) BERLIN, February 27. A new crime, known as "literary high treason," has been established as the result of a series of judgments in Leipzig. The trials arose from the condemnation of four Communist books, but the tribunal extended the liability therefor to an amazing degree, and imposed heavysentences and fines on booksellers, the owners of a printing works and its foreman, a clerk, compositors, and even a messenger, holding that all should have recognised the matter as seditious. Yet no action was taken against the actual authors.
