AUCKLAND GRAMOPHONE SOCIETY.

« The fifth gramophone evening was held nt he Operatic Society's Hall. Grafton Road. Ast evening. The attendance was very satisfactory considering weather conditions. I'he two gramophones used for the meetng were kindly lent by Mr. Charles Porter, >y whom they were designed and made. A feature of the evening was the remarkible recording of an organ solo, entitled 'Piece Heroique," played on a gramophone vith an iiiuplitieation of at least lifteen eet. The demonstration of the machines was n the capable hands of the chairman, Mr. _.'. U. Plummer, who, during the evening, explained the new policy of operations in •egard to making the club a decided ncqusiion to Auckland's musical life. Supper vas served during the interval, and at the •lose of the meeting members and visitors vere well satisfied with the enertninment.
