AWAPUNI TRAINING NOTES. I I PALMERSTON NORTH, this day. Track operations at Awapuni this morning were of a quiet nature, only the plough and sand tracks being open. Millie Abbey ami Capitulation were first out, both doing easy tasks. Polar was sent a couple of rounds at a • solid pace. Mies Maher's teamv consisting of Little River. Peneus. Grand National. Hillation,..' Calluna. and Kalos, were exercised. Little j River, Peneus, and Ealos Jook particularly < well. Royal Land was sent over a couple of > rounds at three-quarter pace. > Crack o' Day gave a promising display over five hurdles. Inferno went a round under a strong pull, but was somewhat unruly. , Diogenes, bandaged in both front legs, was sent a couple of rounds the reverse way. In the final round, with Soltano as , a companion, the Auckland Cup candidate went well. Although he pulled up a shade • lame, it appeared to soon go off. There is every prospect he will yet make the trip north. Catcall and Novar were companions over a couple of rounds, the latter coming away over the secpnd. .circuit, and beating the Catmint gelding by a furlong. Orchid was given easy work. . Inoe sprinted the last three furlongs oC a round, while Prince Willonyx and Barcarole, a two-year-old from 'Trentham vim made' the trip for educational purposes, also worked. After breakfast, Epistle and Royal Damon were companions over six furlongs on the plough, the former baying half a length's advantage in 1.17 2-5. Merry Day mill ltoyal Time went over n. mile. The cup candidate onmo away over the last half, nml had a big advantage at the end in 1.47 4-3.
