TRANSPORT SERVICES.
(To the Editor.) Sir, —Truly the people of Edendale rival Job for patience in their toleration of their unsatisfactory tram service. Unfortunately, the bus opposition on this route has been a negligible quantity, with the result that for some time past the tramway authorities have been able to play "ducks and drakes" with the time-table in the evenings. After the 5 o'clock rush is ended, it is no uncommon occurrence for. a trip to be dropped or postponed, with the result that the worker often waits 15 to 20 minutes for a homeward-bound car. On race days, however, the position js intolerable, as it would seem that regular cars are taken off this route and diverted to catering for race traffic. The indifference of the authorities to the needs of those who are forced to depend on the tram service is well exemplified in the Edendale service, and why complaints have not been voiced before is a matter of wonder. —I am, etc., DISGUSTEP.
