BLAZE IN 'WAREHOUSE. | I STOCK CONSIDERABLY DAMAGED j (By Telegraph.—Special to "Star.'') , CHRISTCHURCH, this day. A fire which broke out at about 11 o'clock last night in the New Zealand Coffee and Spice Company's warehouse, in Durham Street, did a" good deal otf damage to the stock and the building. The fire started in the top storey and was confined to that part by the brigade, though the roof was burnt through in parts. Heavy stocks of pepper, ginger and spices were damaged, both by fire and water, while the stocks of coffee on the bottom storey were damaged by water. The stock was insured in the North British Office for £9490, and the building, which was of brick, in the London and Lancashire for £3350. FIRE ON STEAMER MAORI. SOON SUPPRESSED, NO DAMAGE. About 1 a.m. yesterday, a small fire broke out above one otf the boilers on the ferry steamer Maori, but the blaze was quickly suppressed, no damage resulting. , WAIKATO HOMESTEAD BURNED. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) HAMILTON, this day. A six-roomed house on a farm at Newstead was destroyed by fire yesterday. There was no one in the house at the time, the owner, Mr. T. Aitchisotn, of Hamilton, having only purchased the property three days ago. The huilding was insured in the Southern General Union Office for £600.
