SOCCER FOOTBALL.
■ CLOSE OF THE SEASON. SEVEN A-SIDE TOURNEY. The Auckland Football Association concluded the 1926 season on Saturday with a seven a-side tournament, open to all grades. There were 13 entries, and the games were got off expeditiously and without a hitch. Though the standard of play at the outset was high and the games fast and interesting, as the rounds progressed and teams made their appearance at shorter intervals the pace began to tell, and the final games were comparatively quietly contested. The tournament was won by Tramways, who met Onehunga in the final. The countryside, which is a junior organisation, gave a very creditable performance, but were unable to get the better of the more experienced and finished opponents. The results were as follow. Points counted three for a goal and one for a corner. First Round.—Takanini 2. beat Tamakl 1 : Metropolitan 2, beat V.M.C.A. B 1; Chelsea 1. beat Ponsonby B 0; Onehunga 7. beat Thistle 2: Tramways 5, beat Newton 1; Ponsonby A, Northcote and I.M.C.A. byes. Second Round.—Northcote 8. beat Ponsonby A 0 ; Onehunga 2, beat Takanini 0 : Metropolitan 3, beat Chelsea 1; Tramways 7. heat V.M.C.A. 0. Semi-finals.—Onehunga C, beat Northcote 3: Tramways 7. beat Metropolitan 0. Final.—Tramways one corner, beat Onehunga 0. A players' race of 100 yards was decided during an interval in the tournament. The results were:—First heat: Drew (Ponsonbyl 1, Tremain (Northcote) 2. Otter (V.M.C.A.) 3. Second heat: Roberts (Takanini) 1. L. Knott (Ponsonby) 2. It. Innes (Ponsonby) 3. Fin.nl: Drew 1. Knott 2. Roberts 3. Time, 12s. The players ran in football outfit. JUNIOR RESULTS. Fifth Grade Knock-out.—New* Lynn 2. beat Kowhai 1. Sixth Grade Final.—Comrades 2, beat Carlton 1. Seventh Grade Final.—Comrades 3, beat Belmont 0. SMOKE CONCERT. In the evening the annual smoke concert of the A.F.A. was held, when the prizes won during the year were presented by the president. Mr. E. Davis. There was a large attendance, and the nsual toast list was interspersed by musical and elocutionary items. The trophies were presented as follow: Senior championship. Tramways (Thompson Shield and Skeates Cup) ; senior knock-out competition. Tramways (Falcon Cup) : second grade championship, Ponsonby (Pascoe Shield) ; second grade knock-out competition. North Shore (Dacre Cup) : third grade championship, Takanini (A.F.A. Cup) : third grade knock-out competition. Swanson (Third Grade Cup) : Mr. J. F. W. Dickson's medal for most sportsmanlike player, Mr. P. Humphries (V.M.C.A.) : Mr. R. Hill's medal for best player iii representative team against Wellington. Mr. A. M. I.ucas; Farmers' Union Trading Company's Cup for business houses' competition. Farmers' Trading Company. The junior trophies will be presented at a gathering to be arranged later.
